WebP usually gives the smallest file at the same quality and is well supported in modern browsers. JPG is a safe choice for photos. PNG stays lossless, so keep it for graphics with sharp edges, text or transparency.
Will compressing lower the quality?
JPG and WebP are lossy, so a lower quality setting trades a little sharpness for a much smaller file. Start around 75% and drop it further only if you need a smaller size. PNG stays lossless but compresses less.
