Why use a percentage calculator?

Percentages come up everywhere — a shopkeeper adding GST, a student checking exam marks, a freelancer working out a discount, or anyone comparing a price rise. This tool covers the four questions people ask most, so you don't have to remember the formula each time.

Common uses

Find 18% of a bill, check what percentage 45 marks is out of 180, measure how much a price went up from ₹200 to ₹250, or add a service charge and subtract a discount in one place. The results are live, so you can tweak any number and instantly see the effect.

Frequently asked questions

What is X% of Y — how is it worked out?

Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 20% of 500 is 500 × 20 ÷ 100 = 100. The calculator does this for you as you type.

How do I calculate a percentage increase?

Subtract the original value from the new value, divide by the original, then multiply by 100. From 200 to 250 that is (250 − 200) ÷ 200 × 100 = 25%. Use the percentage change box to do it automatically.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. Every calculation runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded or stored on any server.
